From Pedernales to Montecristi, from El Seibo to Elías Piña, from San Cristobal to Espaillat, people in the Dominican republic have the opportunity to access information and knowledge by visiting the Community Technology Centers.

The Community Technology Centers (CTCs) are free access points to digital information in the most remote and poorest communities in the Dominican Republic.  67 structures have been built so far to give communities the opportunity to access Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), with the aim that these tools will benefit their inhabitants’ personal development and the community wellbeing.

ICTs are also helping the Dominican Republic achieve the Millennium Developments Goal of the United Nations set forth in 2000 by 189 Heads of States. ICTs are helping us strengthen national policies at the local level on health, education, HIV/Aids, environment, hunger, and gender equality.

The Community Technology Centers offers a broad selection of coursework and special initiatives through local and international partners such as Trust Foundation, Microsoft and CISCO Systems.

Our Radio CTC brings information of local interest, education, health, prevention, culture, community activities, and informational campaigns to radio listeners of the region.  Our content in 80% educational.

The Centers will allow access to telephones services, fax internet, universal knowledge; database creation, information processing, healthcare and environment best practices, and program training that prepare citizens to compete in the labor market.

The Technology Community Centers are places were people conduct commercial banking transactions, transmit documents, access e-government services and virtual libraries as well as create and expand small businesses that benefit the local community.

Each one of the Community Technology Centers aim to build the capacity of the citizens of the community, their knowledge and ability to effectively utilize ICTs by making them part of their lives.
